The North York Drive In Theatre has been operating at the same location by the same family since 1955. It began with one screen on Mount Albert Road just west of Sharon, Ontario and later expanded to three screens and a newer, fully stocked snack bar. There are three ticket booths to help speed your entry into the theatre. Gone are the days with speakers on your car window and heaters too! All screens feature FM stereo sound so movie-goers can listen to the movies over their own vehicle radios. There is a children's playground for the youngsters under the watchful supervision of their parents. It is very common to see the very young in their pyjamas - just as their own parents were brought to the theatre when they were that age by their parents.

The Theatre opens in early spring (April) and operates on week-ends - Friday-Sunday until sometime after the Victoria Day week-end when it continues daily until the Labour Day week-end after which it changes back to Friday, Saturday, Sunday. The weather dictates if the season makes it to Thanksgiving. Long week-ends are made even more special with an extra movie being added to the usual two movies on each large screen.

The Theatre can accomodate over a thousand cars. In the old days they were almost all cars with a few pick-up trucks in the back row. Today non-car types - vans, SUVs, trucks, campers, what have you, are restricted to the back five rows for each screen. On Line movie goers can sign up to receive weekly e-messages from North York Drive In to keep them informed as to the upcoming movies. These also provide links to the movie trailers! The Theatre always attempts to provide its patrons with the latest in movies. Show times are dependant on the setting sun but it is always advisable to arrive early as line-ups begin to get longer as show time gets nearer.
